Our anchor wasn't fouled, but our chain seriously was. It took some creative motoring & windlassing to get it free. As convenient as this spot was, never again!

Anchor set easily, in mud we hope. Directly across the river from the mega-dock. Dinghy dock there is $5/day. Not convenient to much retail or touristy stuff. Had to Uber to West Marine for boat needs. Restaurant at marina is pretty good.

A miracle, more like. The bottom is strewn with heavy debris. Do not anchor here.

Vessel Type: Sail
LOA: 36'
Draft: 4.5'Overall Rating:1While this seems to be a good anchorage, there is a lot of debris - including wrecks and construction debris from bridge construction. Many anchors are lost here, including ours. Input from locals, including the owner of the Charleston Sailing School, confirm the risks in this anchorage. I recommend avoiding this if you like your anchor...
