Exc holding, followed local markers in from NJICW 471. Well worth the short trip up from C. May. Great sunset's too!

I understand that these markers may be removed in the winter. There is an area marked with big yellow markers for PWCs (they are removed each evening). Lots of wakes during the day (most from PWCs). By evening we had the anchorage all to ourselves. Good holding in mud bottom. Anchored on 8' of water. Don't let my comments about the wakes keep you from anchoring here. We were there on a sunny June Saturday. We went by the anchorages by the Coast Guard and they had even more wakes due to people ignoring the "No Wake" markers along the channel. This would be a GREAT anchorage Monday through Thursday.

To anchor, we stayed midway in entrance, then headed approximately 190 degrees, staying approximately 50 feet off islands to southwest. Saw approximately 6-15 feet MLLW until in southwest corner. Charted depths are not correct and caution needed while sounding into Lake. Might be easier when nav. aids are present. Tidal Range 5 feet. Bottom is soft mud.
