George Town - Kidd Cove

Description:
Kidd Cove is the closest anchorage to the dinghy channel leading into Lake Victoria and as such it is popular as a day anchorage for vessels making a regular provisioning run, but do not want to take their tender across the harbour. In the wintertime it can be a bumpy and wet trip across the harbour by dinghy. The challenge with this anchorage is that it is only a small patch of sand pinched between a deep channel running along Regatta Point, the docks of The Exuma Yacht Club and the nearly drying flats leading towards February Point. The anchorage is only large enough for 5-6 boats but during busy times, it is not uncommon to see double that many who are clustered precariously and often with inadequate scope. The holding is excellent and the protection from S and W winds is excellent but the anchorage will develop an annoying swell in north winds despite being relatively well protected from the north by Regatta Point.

The Kid's Cove anchorage extends both inside Regatta Point & SE of the channel. Inside is less room & a bit shallower. Very convenient to Victoria Lake dinghy dock etc. lots of small & fast boats coming & going 'till dusk. Good protection from S to W. outside but wide ope to N with long fetch. inside well protected except S. But short fetch.
If you are here short term for supplies, much more convenient than Stocking Island anchorage
