We came east on the Calooshee River but every place we tried was either not accepting transients or failed to answer their phones. The Glades answered the phone promptly, met us at the dock to assist in mooring, and were generally very helpful in facilitating pump out via a portable system and also providing a golf cart so that we could get to the local restaurant quickly. Beyond that, the wooden dock was in poor condition and 30 amp power connection required using both our cables to reach their shore cable. As others have mentioned, this location is an interesting mixture of marina, derelict boat depository, and boat graveyard.

We made an unplanned two night stay at the The Glades marina after finding the Labelle City Dock unsuitable for our boat. Entering The Glades marina is a bit unnerving as two large boats are sitting on the bottom to starboard as you enter the marina. The Glades obviously doesn't spend much money maintaining the marina portion of the RV and marina resort. Our floating dock slip looked rickety, but their was plenty of depth and the dockmaster was very helpful. All the live-aboard boaters that we met were friendly and very enthusiastic about staying at The Glades. We were invited to a boater cookout for the evening that we arrived. The RV side of the resort is large and expanding. The boaters enjoyed the activities, golf, and on-site restaurant and other eatery at The Glades. One of the live-aboard boaters gave me a ride to a grocery store. The cash price for my 40 foot boat was $60 per night, including 50-amp power. The resort locals drink filtered water, available for $0.25 per gallon in the library building. I chose not to add dock water to my boat tank. While a bit of an initial shock to view the marina, we had a pleasant couple of nights. The River Front Grill restaurant on the The Glades property was quite good and reasonably priced.

I called and reserved a slip at this marina nearly a week ago. Today when we tried to hail them on VHF there was no reply so we called. The gentleman answered and said where are you; we were in the midst of a very rickety poorly kept place and we were literally harbor dancing while we waited for him to come somewhere visible since he had given us no directions. It was shallow and another boat was coming in and still he didn’t arrive. Eventually, very upset we turned around and left. I called to say we were very unhappy with how our arrival was handled and the mans wife answered. The husband subsequently called me back and said no refunds; check our policy on the website. He said he didn’t care if I shared my experience because he has a great reputation. Clearly it is undeserved. Besides the lousy service it looks like it needs an overhaul. No wonder they want your money in advance which no one else on the OCWW asks for. We would never cancel without adequate notice, but this was pretty awful.

Charming marina with excellent and kind staff. If you like stepping into old Florida, this is the place for you. Most convenient docking ever.

Stayed here while awaiting Glades storage. Great dock hand (Rick), good power. Looks like a rebuilt dock and new power station. Bit of a walk to the showers. Will return.
