10 29 2022 stayed overnight this time. Filled up at decent fuel price and they did Pump out. Staff was good at helping at the fuel dock and then with docking in assigned slip for the night. Shower/rest room only one toilet combined OK, but only one for Male and one for Female for the whole marina is disappointing. The marina is well protected from winds and weather. Hardly any current makes it a easy fuel stop verses the current flowing at the marinas in Southport. Staff friendly and helpful.

I visited the marina for a pump out and fuel. The staff was exceptionally attentive. The marina has a nice little ship's store too.

This is a well-managed marina with competent dockhands. They respond to phone calls and VHF radio. It is well-protected from ICW wakes. Fuel prices were the best in the area.
All facilities functioned normally.
There is NOTHING nearby. Have your boat provisioned or have transportation.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

St James Marina was built for the tenants of a condominium complex. It is about 5 miles from downtown Southport and there are no restaurants nor grocery stores within walking distance. There is only one bathroom/shower per gender and one washer/dryer. The staff and residents are very friendly. One resident actually gave us a small bag of rice when we mentioned that we were looking for a store. We stopped here since it was cheaper ($1.50/ft with Boat US discount) than other options. Next time we'll probably choose a different marina.

St. James Marina is a good stop to stage for the Cape Fear River going north or Lockwood's Folly and Shallotte Inlet going south. It is a perfect hurricane hole that is protected on all sides. It is reasonably priced, had stable floating docks in great shape and clean facilities for an overnight or a longer stay. Approach and dockside depths are 7 feet MLLW. You are staying in a very large, upscale development's private marina and services are focused on the residents. The staff, however, could not have been more helpful. From the dockhand helping us tie up to the office, to the fuel dock attendant that helped us in the morning with a pump-out, they could not have been nicer. The restaurant and convenience store are still under renovation. The development is large and, without a car, you are really restricted to the marina. As a bad weather shelter you could not ask for more. There is fair to good cellular service for all three majors and OnSpot WiFi is available with easy connectivity and very good speeds.

St James marina, was a none planed stop, but with a solid blow on its way. It was perfect. Would have given them 5 stars but there is not much to do and no restaurants near by. But I think there is plans for more development. The facilities where very clean and the staff where there to help us dock and make sure we where taken care of. We will stop again soon.

St James is one of the true hurricane holes on the ICW. The basin is surrounded by a 13 foot high burm, on top of which are three story houses. It's like a wall around the marina. We stayed here when hurricane Matthew passed over the top of us (we were in the eye) and suffered no damage. They have fuel, pump out, ice, laundry, excellent OnSpotWiFi, and a small marine store. There's a small on-site restaurant but nothing else is nearby.

No electrical power for two vessels on pier E. Second vessel charging their cell phones on main pier. Will run generator while pier side in the morning to charge batteries. Faulty GFIs. Staff tried really hard to help, but the equipment appears too old and in need of update. If electrical power, provisions Restaurant's, or a courtesy car are important for you there are alternatives available.

We have stayed here twice now and it is a great place. On this trip we elected to back track due to the fact that many of the area marinas had limited availability (5/19/2021) for transient boaters due to the hurricane damage of last year. Very quiet and relaxing marina. The restaurant was closed due to a kitchen fire and is reported to reopen in about two months. .

Just spent a week here,
Great rates, best price for fuel for miles, no current, protected from wind, clean facilities, tight cleats on the dock, friendly and helpful staff.
What more nice things can I say.
OK, the marina is in a gated community and it was slightly more difficult to get into town, but the visit was well worth it.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

My wife and I stayed here overnight on a trip down the ICW. The dockmaster, Katie, was very attentive and helpful. She offered lots of info on the nearby area, and the best way to get to any of it. The entire facility was clean and modern. I would highly recommend this marina.

St James is a hurricane hole of the first order, nothing better. It’s surrounded by three story houses built on 15 ft high mound (from digging out the harbor), very protected. We survived Hurricane Matthew tied up here, no problems.
The wifi is OnSpotWiFi, good and fast. There’s laundry and a small restaurant and deli store on site for incidentals. The docks are floating secure. Southport is nearby but lots of restaurants but you will need transportation.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

I have stayed here many times. Facilities are superb, staff very friendly, and a restaurant pub with really good food is only steps away. The dockage rate is reasonable and the facilities to include restrooms showers and laundry are always clean. On the ICW it is one of my must stop marinas

This is a super marina. It's the marina associated with the surrounding condos. It is completely protected 360 by three story condos from wind. It's on a short canal into the marina so there no wave action. they have washers and dryers and the facilities are first rate.

A great marina in an upmarket estate. The rates are reasonable, services on site are great, internet is good but unfortunately a long way from shops for re provisioning. Will stay again.
