Wide open mooring field with great protection from winds. 1st night is free, then $35 a night which includes town water taxi. Otherwise water taxi is $8 RT per person.

Water taxi can drop you off across the street from excellent Stop n Shop. Target and W Marine are a short 2 block walk from there. Farmers market on Sat AM on the waterfront has awesome organic veggies, pasta, coffee, and breads, all reasonably priced.

Safe Harbor Capri fuel dock is easy to get to. Free pumpout boat in the harbor.

There are roughly 12, yellow moorings managed by the town. They are free for the first night. Dinghy dock adjacent to the two story brick Town marina office. There is also a launch that you can hire for the first free night. Subsequent nights are $25 and include the launch fee. Also a dinghy dock is at the north end of the harbor, directly across from groceries and shopping.

One of the best stops on the east coast. Free water taxi service. Several nice restaurants, groceries and a West Marine in walking distance. The food at Bosphorus was interesting and excellent. Go early.

There are 20 moorings available for transient usage. The first 24 hours are at no charge, subsequent nights at the cost of $25/night. They have a free water taxi service for those renting the moorings who will drop you off at Louie's Waterside restaurant, the Town Dock or the North Port. Town Dock provides access to the downtown and Main Street which has a variety of restaurants and shops. Further up Main Street we found a Mail Room store front who allowed us to ship packages there for a small fee ($5 per package).
The North Port dock provides easy access to the Stop & Shop which is a large grocery store with a good selection of fresh and organic foods. This area also has several restaurants, a Home Goods store and an Urgent Care clinic.
This dock is also in walking distance to the West Marine, Target, Walgreens, Ace Hardware & laundromat.
We really enjoyed our stay here, the water taxi drivers were very friendly and infinitely helpful with directions and information.
We stayed on the mooring while tropical storm Isaias blew through and the mooring held perfectly.
There is a pump out boat available on call and the cost is included in the mooring fee, there is also free pump out at the town dock as well as water. There is an easily accessible fuel dock at the marina.

This review is for the moorings. The Town of North Hempstead maintains 20 moorings for transient use for 48 hours at no charge. The moorings are bright yellow in color with a pennant with a loop at the end suitable for going over a cleat. They also have a free dinghy dock on the north side of the town pier (the Waterway Guide icon is on the south side). Farther to the north is another dinghy dock close to a supermarket. If you stay longer than 48 hrs, then there is a $25/day charge.

In town are numerous restaurants and delis, ice is available at the deli. The is a launch service at $4/ head, per trip if you don’t want to use your dinghy or $25/boat per day for unlimited trips.

The moorings are sometimes called, Port Washington Free Moorings, a name change over the last two years. They are the same 20 moorings.
