GA: Little Mud River, Shoaling MM 653.7
- Date Reported: Jun 3, 2023

- Description:
Update:4.0 MLLW as of 3/20/2023 on the Bob423 track
Little Mud River has been dredged but only from R194 south to just north of G197. Although the dredged depth was 12 MLLW, it has already started to shoal. The dredged channel is only 75 feet wide and it does not follow the old channel. Those that are used to hugging G195 (where the deepest water used to be) will miss the dredged channel completely. North of R194, the channel is narrow and shallow as always, it was untouched.
I do not recommend it but If you do attempt the passage without the aid of a track, then buy some leeway and pass with a half or full tide. Don’t hug any ATONs and stay off as follows:
R192 by 250 ft
G193 by 170 ft
R194 by 250 ft (used to be 200 ft before dredging)
G195 by 260 ft. (Used to be 90 ft before dredging)
R196 by 100 FtThe shallowest part of the passage is at MM 654.3 just south of Crooked Creek (top left in photo below)
At the southern exit, pass G195 by 120 feet off.
