The Captain of the Port (COTP) Savannah has been notified by the Georgia Department of Transportation that Myrick Marine will commence with the next phase of work on the Causton Bluff/Islands Expressway Bridge, on the Wilmington River, at position 32°03.73' N, 81°01.78' W (Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway MM 579.9). The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024, with work continuing until November 30, 2024, between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM daily (except for Sundays).
All vessels may transit the area while work is ongoing; however, those mariners (commercial/recreational) requiring the full width of the federal navigational channel for safe transit are encouraged to call Myrick Marine as early as 24 hours in advance, but not less than one hour before arrival to the construction area to schedule safe passage. Once in the vicinity of the Causton Bluff Bridge, please contact the LONA MYRICK or GRACE MYRICK by VHF to verify your scheduled passage. If applicable, please have your Automated Information System (AIS) energized.
In addition, there will be a Myrick Marine safety boat in the vicinity of the construction area for traffic management. The safety boat can be reached on channel 10 or 13. Please exercise extreme caution while transiting through the construction area. It's recommended that all vessels monitor their VHF radios (if applicable).
