FL: Wabasso Bridge Clearance vs Water Level
- Date Reported: Jan 8, 2023
- Reporter: Bob423
- Source: User
- Description:
The Wabasso Bridge clearance varies from 62 ft to 65 ft due to water level changes. Boaters submitted photos of the height boards with a date and time which were used to produce the graph below. The water level gauge reading can be accessed real time at:
https://waterdata.usgs.gov/monitoring-location/02251800/#parameterCode=00065&period=P7D
Find the current water level from the link above on the left axis and move horizontally until reaching the red line - dropping down to the bottom axis gives the expected bridge clearance in feet based on boaters’ experiences. The dots show actual boater data (photo of height board, date, and time).
CAUTION: The correlation is experimental but should give an indication of clearance. The decision to proceed is only to be based on the height board at the time of your passage and your mast height.
For example if your mast is 64 feet and the graph shows 62 feet of clearance, you may want to wait at a protected anchorage or marina before proceeding close to the bridge where anchorage may be limited.

Vessel Type: Sail
LOA: 38'
Draft: 3.5'We are 63.5. Went through 20 minutes before low tide. It looked like there was a little less than 64 feet on the board. We would've made it, but two power boats flew by us and their wake caused us to rock just enough that our antenna hit and bent through.

Vessel Type: Sail
LOA: 46'
Draft: 6.0'Correlated well for us. Water level .81, graph showed expected clearance 64'. The ruler on the bridge is messy but appeared to read 64'. We have 63.5 air draft, had no issues getting through.
