CAUTION: Chesapeake City to Cape May
- Date Reported: Feb 8, 2021
- Reporter: Ted Stehle
- Source: WG Staff
- Description:
Eastbound vessels, particularly slower vessels, departing Chesapeake City to Cape May should give some consideration to the tidal current in the C & D Canal and at the head of the Delaware Bay. Obviously, a slow boat will have a better time with the tide if it is going out when you transit this section. Departing Chesapeake City at low tide will give you a favorable current for most of the trip. For a 5 to 7 knot vessel, this will take between 10 and 11 hours.
