Goderich, ON, CAN
With three beautiful beaches connected by an old-fashioned boardwalk, Goderich is the epitome of a pretty lakeside town. What makes Goderich unique, however, is the town square. The architectural creation of Tiger Dunlop and his literary friend and associate, John Galt, the “square” is actually an octagon. The intersection of eight streets leads into the heart of the town’s shopping district.
Goderich is the oldest town in Bruce County, founded in 1827. The now-defunct Goderich light station is the oldest on Lake Huron (circa 1847). It was manned until 1992 and was renovated by the town in 2009.
