Approach & Docking
Mallets Bay is separated from the "Broad Lake" by the Colchester Causway. The causeway is an old abandoned railroad bed built on piles of large rocks. The passage opening was once a swing bridge that has been removed.
There are lots of weeds along the east side of the causeway. When approaching the passage from the Broad Lake in late summer, the weeds are grown and close to the water surface.
When approaching from the south, be sure to know where Colchester Reef is located. They say the reef is littered with pieces of propellers.

Upon entering the 'inner' Mallett's Bay, immediately to the south in a protected cove is the full-service Champlain Marina, with deep-water slips, all fuels, coin laundry, clean showers and a well stocked ship store. Repairs can be accommodated with a 25-ton lift and 1-ton crane.
Our service dock sells premium non-ethanol gasoline and fresh diesel from Canada, which is not blended with bio-diesel as are New York products. Both gasoline and diesel fuel are treated with "Valvtect" premium marine fuel additives.
