Exploring Provincetown, MA: |
Provincetown, Massachusetts has its own vibe. Classic Cape Cod ambiance and an avantgarde side with art, food, and fun for all are nestled within “the hook” of Cape Cod sitting on the edge of the continent.
Provincetown is where parties and parades mark the season, and where visitors walk miles of beaches with tidal drops that lay bare treasures as the ocean recedes twice a day. Shorelines stretch for miles with many beaches inside Cape Cod National Seashore, including Herring Cove Beach and Race Point Beach. Providencetown is also home to some of the best fishing for stripe bass and tuna in New England. |

You can drop anchor in the harbor NE or SW of the breakwater. If to the SW be sure to stay out of the channel and to the west of the town mooring field. Be mindful that Provincetown has a 10’ tidal range. There is no launch service to the town's anchorage fields. Provincetown Marina is in the heart of town. 100 slips and 100 moorings are available for vessels up to 300 feet. Showers, restrooms, laundry, power, complimentary launch service, and the Captains Lounge - the best place to watch the Sox games – are all available.

Always consult a tide chart before navigating the area by land or sea. At high tide, water covers part of the Provincetown Causeway, leaving it impossible to cross if on foot. If you end up on the beach-side of the causeway at high tide, your only options are to wait for the waters to recede or make the hike through Herring Cove Beach, both of which will leave you stranded for hours. Visit the artist pop-ups on MacMillan Pier before heading down to Commercial Street where you will find the shops, museums, restaurants, theaters and numerous renowned art galleries. |

Some Provincetown traditions that are always worth mentioning are the Portuguese Festival and Blessing of the Fleet (June 28-30, 2024) and Carnival Week (August 17-24). The theme this year is “Renaissance x Revolution” and the parade is on Thursday 8/22. Provincetown Tennis Club is celebrating its 100th year, which is super exciting. We recommend checking out the whale display at the Center for Coastal Studies and visiting the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy.
