- Description:
Cooperstown is a small community of around 600 residents located on the shores of Great Abaco, opposite Spanish and Powell Cays. The most visible landmark for the community is the lighted cell tower that can be seen from as far away as Green Turtle Cay to the south and Crab Cay to the north.
There is a government dock, a grocery store, and a service station, which had a fuel dock until it was destroyed by Hurricane Dorian in 2019. The dock has not been rebuilt.
There is little protection from prevailing winds and currents in this anchorage but under settled conditions it is not a problem, provided you are prepared for the wakes from a seemingly constant flow of vessels transiting the area. Many boaters will prefer to shuttle back to Powell Cay for a calmer anchorage after completing their business in Coopers Town.
