- Location: Southern Exumas

- Depth: 8'-10'
- Tide: 2.5'-3.0'
- Description:
For most vessels Soldier Cay is the southern most cut on Great Exuma that permits easy access to Exuma Sound. If you remain inside the barrier islands, once you pass Soldier Cay you will run a gauntlet of drying sandbars between Bob Cay and the mainland of Great Exuma that will block travel for all but the shallowest draft vessels. Even center consoles will have to tilt their motors to continue south.
The anchorage is located on the edge of a sand bar that extends south from Soldier Cay. The holding is good, but there is only protection for east winds under 20knots. The anchorage is untenable in a north wind as the surge from the channel will cause most boats to rock uncomfortably.
