- Description:
Glass Cay is one of the first anchorages north of Georgetown that provides protection from Exuma Sound and when conditions are rough, it serves as a suitable bail out point for vessels on Exuma Sound. The cay is private and going ashore is frowned upon, however there are some small patches off beach next to the bar leading to nearby Levi Cay that might provide a spot to land if absolutely necessary. The anchorage is on the west side of the cay and there is decent protection from the east, but it is open in all other directions. The holding is very good in sand. For vessels drawing more than 5’ wishing to follow the route along the barrier islands towards Square Rock Cay, Glass Cay is a good spot to wait for an appropriate tide.
