- Description:
The Glass Window Bridge is a testament to the force of Mother Nature. During a winter storm the bridge over the Glass Window was shifted 11’ off of its foundations by waves striking it from the ocean side. By some miracle the roadway did not collapse as it would have cut the residents in North Eleuthera off from the rest of the island.
For those who wish to view the bridge but do not want to take a tender from Gaulding Cay, it is possible to anchor directly in front of the Glass Window. The anchorage is wide open from all directions and except in calm or near calm conditions there is a swell that manifests as barely perceptible rocking to a gunwale to gunwale circus ride as the wind increases in velocity. Fortunately the bottom is deep sand and a properly set anchor will hold a vessel in place for as long as the crew can stand it.
