Fort Point is the area where the local fishing boats are moored and there is considerable small boat traffic that can happen at all hours. The anchorage offers decent protection from winds north through south and acceptable protection from south through north. The holding, however, is tricky as the bottom is hard in this part of the harbour and getting an anchor to set could be a problem. The anchorage will be of interest to vessels that have smaller or non-motorized tenders that want easy access to shore. Dinghies can be landed at the government dock or at the fisherman’s dock which is the covered pier north of the government dock
