- Description:
Delaport Bay and Goodman Bay are opposite ends of the body of water that encompasses the resorts along Cable Beach and the Baha Mar Hotel, waterpark, and casino. The waters of the bay are sparkling clear and in settled conditions it is a reasonable anchorage, provided you can accept an ever-present swell. Generally the anchorage should be considered a convenience stop because it is exposed from all directions except south. The protection afforded from the west by Delaport Point is minimal and in the afternoon sea breezes a chop can build that at times will be uncomfortable. The attraction to this anchorage is that it is only a short walk from Sandyport Beach to a shopping mall that contains a Supervalu Supermarket, The Aliv Store and the BTC Store as well as other shops and restaurants. The atmosphere is more Miami than Nassau, but it is possible to accomplish many errands in a single trip without having to enter Nassau Harbour.
