- Location: Grand Bahama Island

- Description:
Sandy Cay is a small, deserted island fringed with beaches that is approximately 8 nm north of the entrance to Old Bahama Bay Marina. Once the site of a naturist camp, the facilities were destroyed by hurricanes and today there are only a few dock pilings remaining on the south side. There are no structures ashore.
The Sandy Cay Anchorage which is located off the northeast corner of the cay is a great place to stop for the night before departing for Florida or after crossing the Gulfstream enroute to a Bahamian destination. There is only marginal protection in the anchorage from the south, and it is exposed in all other directions. Nevertheless in prevailing easterly winds the anchorage provides a reasonably calm place to spend the night. One needs to pay close attention to the state of tide when dropping anchor as the waters surrounding the cay are shallow.
