Little Cave Cay - Gum Bay
- Location: Little Bahama Bank
- Lat / Lon: N 26° 52.313' / W 077° 55.106'
- Depth: 6 feet
- Description:
Little Cave Cay lies just South of Little Abaco Island and is about 6NM SW of Foxtown. It's a beautiful anchorage with lots of beaches, mangroves, and rocky shores. The anchorage is sandy bottom with 6-10 foot MLW depths. Holding was excellent with our Mantus buried to the roll bar. There is some current but you will lie with the wind. We spent several nights, including with a thunderstorm that produced 25 knot winds from the NE. It got bumpy but was not bad due to the shallows to the East and Little Abaco to the North. Excellent in Southerly component winds. You pretty much can find a protected anchorage around the Cay for all wind conditions. As Foxtown is within 6 miles, you will have good ALiV and BTC service. The mangroves and both Big and Little Cave Cay are fun to explore. We did not find any areas of coral worth snorkeling. Peaceful anchorage when you want to get away from the more crowded and popular anchorages of Abaco. There are no services, stores, or other services here. Closest settlement is a 5NM dinghy ride to Crown Haven.
