  Beautifully isolated anchorage with good protection from prevailing easterlies. Following days of sustained east swell, there can be some wraparound that leads to the anchorage being rolly unless one can move closer to shore putting the rocky shoal to the south of one's vessel. The water clarity is excellent and there are plenty of large sand patches to set the anchor in. In two and a half days, we saw only three boats anchor in the entire 5-mile wide harbor, and they were brief overnighters. We otherwise had the whole place to ourselves. Exploring the bayou just to the north, identified on some charts as "Cross Harbour Creek", we found a myriad of sea life, including turtles, rays, small sharks, and the other expected marine animals. This is close enough to Sandy Point to still have acceptable cellular service. Anchoring here allowed us to break up the run from Sandy Point to the Sea of Abaco such that we were able to both depart and arrive with good light for visual navigation in the shallows, but Cross Harbour is a worthy destination in and of itself for those seeking to enjoy a pristine, natural experience.
