- Description:
Bluff Harbour is a tricky anchorage that is accessed by crossing a bar that runs between the south shore and Bluff Cay, a small island with a single house on it.
Once inside the bar, the depths increase; however, the middle of the harbour is taken up by a private mooring that may or may not have a vessel on it. Going past the mooring, the water shallows rapidly and any vessel drawing more than 4’ should stay away. For vessels drawing up to 6’ there is room for one vessel between the mooring ball and the dock on Bluff Cay. There is no shore access from within Bluff Harbour, which is lined with private property, where you are not welcome. Despite being very sheltered from northeast thru southwest the mouth of the harbour is open to the north and west, which is not ideal for weathering a cold front.
