Kingston - Rondout Creek

  • Location: Hudson River
  • Mile Marker: 90.7
  • Lat / Lon: N 41° 53.855' / W 074° 01.000'
  • Depth: 7-10 ft
  • Description:

Proceed west 3.6 miles up Rondout Creek. Caution: You will pass under 3 fixed bridges, and the first one at 1.3 miles is only 56 feet. Proceed past Gumaer Island and anchor south of the channel just before the low fixed bridge in 8-10 feet. Usually very busy on weekends and holidays. Mooring balls have taken up a lot of the anchorage. Several marinas, a visitors center and the city docks are located on this creek. Dinghy dock at Lou's Boat Basin (small fee). In addition, there are many boutiques, craft stores and restaurants/pubs close by. Two restaurants in embayment on north shore prior to railroad bridge. Nights can be noisy. Cell service available.

DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
