- Description:
Arthurs Town is the ancestral home of the actor Sydney Poiter and the site of the annual Cat Island Rake and Scrape Festival which is normally held the first week of June.
The anchorage can be any where along the shoreline, but it is most convenient to anchor in front of the small concrete dock that is located south of the cell tower. There is a small patch of beach that is visible at low tide, but at high water the only distinguishing feature will be the stone steps leading to the road from the water.
The anchorage is exposed from all directions except NE, and there is almost always a swell present. In settled conditions it is not unpleasant but one the winds rise above 15 knots most boats will begin to roll in the chop. A 20 knot wind from the SE is unpleasant and from the west it could be dangerous as the entire area turns into a lee shore.
