Shroud Cay Anchorage & Moorings
- Location: Northern Exuma
- Lat / Lon: N 24° 32.150' / W 076° 47.951'
- Depth: 7'-10'
- Tide: 2.5'-3.0'
- Description:
There are 14 mooring balls that are available on a first come first served basis located south of a rocky point that juts out from the southern half of Shroud Cay. In prevailing easterly conditions there will be less swell than in the north anchorage, but the mooring field is not immune as the winds rise above 15 knots. When it is calm, however, the views from the mooring field are very pretty and on especially calm days you might even be lucky enough to spot an elusive green flash at sunset.
There is a narrow strip of water between the mooring field and the rocky peninsula that protects the mooring field from the north with sufficient room for 3-4 vessels, if the space is used efficiently. If you are planning on anchoring here, you must be very precise in your anchor placement to ensure that you have enough scope yet are able to remain clear of vessels on the mooring balls. Remember that vessels on the mooring balls will swing on a tighter radius and many will also sail back and forth on their moorings if the winds pick up.
